Greeley Chorale More Than Just Concerts

By Jeff Walthall

If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve heard of, or actually heard, The Greeley Chorale. But, the Chorale is much more than the three formal concerts we do every year, and our Pops & Pasta fundraiser. Our tagline is “Everyday People, Amazing Music”, but there are some extraordinary folks in this organization, and a few other things you might not know about us.

For instance, our membership, now about 100, consists of teachers, preachers, doctors, optometrists, design engineers, barbers, nannies, financial planners, probation office analysts, mental health professionals, funeral directors, state troopers, professional actors, property managers, and many more walks of life. There’s even a 4th generation Scottish Rite Freemason (all 4 generations are living!) So while ‘everyday people’ may refer to a Chorale member being your neighbor or the person around the corner or someone you see at the supermarket, Greeley Chorale singers are far from ordinary!

Beyond our formal concerts, the Chorale performs at various functions throughout the year, the most visible probably being the national anthem performance at the July 4 Stampede finals rodeo and the downtown strolling caroling on the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year. But, for concert season 2016-2017, there wasn’t a single month, summer months included, that some iteration of the Greeley Chorale wasn’t performing somewhere in Northern Colorado. We love our communities, and love performing for you!

Our next scheduled event is the annual Pops & Pasta dinner, show and silent auction fundraiser at the Greeley Recreation Center on Saturday, February 24. Seatings are at 1 and 6 p.m. But hurry… tickets for this even have sold out annually for 23 years! Call 356-5000 for further information, or go to our website, greeleychorale.org.

Auditions: Saturday, January 13 at Frasier Hall on the UNC campus.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a solo demonstrating vocal ability. An accompanist is provided. Also demonstrate sight reading ability. All voice parts are encouraged to audition.

To schedule an audition or for more information, email: info@greeleychorale.org .
