Neighborhood Improvement Grants Available

The City of Greeley is now accepting applications for its 2014 Neighborhood Improvement Grant program. A neighborhood may apply for up to $5,000 in a calendar year. Grants are funded on a first come, first served basis, based on city approval. A total of $5,000 is available for this program which has 2 categories of eligible projects.

The grant funds may be used for permanent capital improvements that benefit a larger common neighborhood area, are supported by a majority of the area’s residents and add to a neighborhood’s appeal and function. Eligible activities include walking paths, landscaping, playground equipment, handicap accessibility ramps, art pedestals, etc. Applications that include matching funds, sweat equity into the project or includes a contribution of time to the areas or city are the most competitive.

Secondly, a neighborhood that sponsors a clean-up or block party this summer is eligible for a small stipend to help defray some of the food costs.
