Love, Loss and What I Wore

Love, Loss and What I Wore has been delighting audiences in over eighty countries on five continents. It is presented by the Society for Creative
Aging/ VIVA Theater and the Boulder International Fringe. Based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, the play is written by Nora and Delia Ephron, screenwriters of the popular movies “Sleepless in Seattle, “When Harry Met Sally and “You’ve Got Mail”.

Ten talented actresses, in a series of fast paced monologues, tell fun- ny and poignant stories of pivotal events in their lives and what they were wearing. Among the moments are remembrances of mother daughter differences, serial husbands, sexy or sweet prom dresses, killer high heels, breast cancer survival and the bane of messy purses. Breezy dialogue alternates with heartfelt sentiment.

The director, James Carver of Erie, Colorado, enjoys an international reputation as director, actor, workshop leader and writer. He recently published “Carver’s Manual for Directing Community Theater”. Carver says “This is undoubtedly a women’s play, but as a married man I have heard many of the stories that the characters tell and have actually experienced some of them myself! I laugh out loud whenever I hear them”.

JoAn Segal, a cast member, says “Being a part of this play brings back my own memories of personal love and loss coupled with pictures in my mind of what I was wearing. I am sure that the audience will relive their own stories.”

Performances across the United States have featured a host of well known names including Rosie O’Donnell, Tyne Daly, Marlo Thomas and Christine Lahti.
