Personal And Loving Care In A Real Home!

A-Home-For-Life-Eldercare

A Home For Life is an ordinary, every-day residential home, owned and operated in Northern Colorado by Erin and MeLisa Mounsey. The Mounseys make healthy food, have house-cats, raise chickens, feed birds, and enjoy a beautiful, bountiful garden oasis through the summer. It’s an inviting place to watch flowers, vegetables and trees grow while relaxing and having tea.

In contrast to the place itself, the Mounseys are anything but ordinary. This couple stands out for several reasons. Both are survivors of severe burn injuries which almost claimed their lives. their recovery processes included wound management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition, and social, emotional, spiritual support and healing. Covered with scars from head to toe, they could be consumed with self-pity, but it was through their burns that they met and found true love in one another. By learning love and acceptance of themselves, they’ve revealed greater ability to relate to the struggles and suffering of others.

In addition to their injuries and the medical self-care they have learned, Erin and MeLisa also have a similar past of working with disabled individuals and older adults. Their combined history of working as professional caregivers in Board & Care homes, as Home-Care Specialists and Physical therapy assistant has renewed their passion to continue caring for others in meaningful ways. Their own personal experiences combined together with professional training give Erin and MeLisa unique understanding of how to meet the
needs of others.
90 year-old Mary Eppstein has lived with the Mounseys for two years. When asked how she likes her home, she cheerfully beams, “I couldn’t be better!”

AHFL is all about life! To the Mounseys it represents having quality of life; consuming healthy living food, speaking life-giving words to one another, and enjoying every-day life while living-at-home until this “awe-filled” journey of life ends.
