Denver Mayor Hancock Announces 2022 Mayor’s Design Awards Winners

Mayor Michael B. Hancock honored a dozen projects during the 2022 Mayor’s Design Awards ceremony. Twelve winners reflect outstanding work in green building, community-led development, preservation, pedestrian-focused urban design and more.

“Throughout my time in office, we have celebrated many creative, committed individuals who lift up our city through good design, and honoring their work is always one of my favorite occasions of the year,” said Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “This year’s winning projects continue a wonderful tradition of demonstrating how design can advance key city goals like housing, sustainability and economic development while celebrating our city’s identity, history and culture.”

Since 2005, the Mayor’s Design Awards have honored projects throughout the city for excellence in architecture, exterior design, and place-making. The awards are presented to Denver homeowners, business owners, nonprofits, artists, and others for their creative contributions to the public realm. Winners can range from community placemaking projects to adaptive reuse of historic structures to single-family residences to major mixed-use downtown buildings. Each brings something special to Denver’s unique visual fabric and speaks to our collective commitment to building healthy, sustainable communities.

The 2022 Mayor’s Design Award winners are: Denver Beer Co., Improper City, Burwell Center for Career Achievement, Chicano/a/x Murals of Colorado Project, Milo Luxury Residences, Citizen West 10, Colfax Is Colfax, Platte Street Plaza, Viña Apartments, Warren Residences, Platte Fifteen, and Denver Art Museum.

Denver Community Planning and Development (CPD) is responsible for visionary city planning and ensuring safe, responsible, sustainable building. Denver thanks these winners for their excellence in design innovation.
