Weld County recognizes April as National County Government Month!

The Weld County Board of Commissioners proclaimed April 2026 as National County Government Month, joining counties across the nation in highlighting the essential services and programs that support residents and strengthen local communities. Each year, the National Association of Counties designates April as National County Government Month to help increase public awareness and understanding of the vital role counties play. Weld County provides a wide range of services that support the health, safety, and well-being of its residents, from maintaining roads and infrastructure to delivering public health programs, supporting families, ensuring public safety, and planning for responsible community growth.

These services are made possible through the dedication of more than 1,900 Weld County employees who work each day to meet community needs. Their efforts include responding to more than 125,000 911 calls annually, maintaining approximately 2,800 miles of county roads, completing more than 2,000 food safety inspections, and supporting over 13,000 individuals through employment and workforce programs.

Following the proclamation, the commissioners all spoke to the positive impact of services provided by employees every day, something Weld County Commissioner Chair Scott James said wouldn’t be possible without both talent and dedication of those working throughout Weld County Government.

“We cannot do that without the work of over 1,900 employees in Weld County,” James said, explaining that the work done on behalf of residents makes the county a great place to live. “When I take a look at the employees in this room and the people that serve the folks in Weld County, I’m very proud … county employees and all of county government, you should be proud.

“Weld County’s a great place, and it’s because of you.”

The board encourages all residents to learn more about the essential services provided by county departments and to join in recognizing the contributions of the employees who serve the community.
