Storytelling Training

Everyone loves a good story. Research shows that humans are actually hard-wired to think in story form. So, whether you are interested in the magic of ‘Once Upon a Time’, or if you want to incorporate storytelling in to your life, you can learn the art of oral storytelling.

If you are retired or transitioning from paid work and have time available, please take this storytelling craft and consider volunteering with Boulder Valley Spellbinders®.

We provide the training and support. If you love children and stories, want to stay young at heart, and make a difference, have a desire to develop your storytelling ability and build the character of the next generation, consider Spellbinders as a volunteer activity. In our digital culture, where screens and busy lifestyles often deprive children of nurturing adult relationships, Spellbinders has a role to play, passing on wisdom, humor and life experiences through the spoken word. Volunteer in the Boulder Valley School District or local assisted living communities and nursing homes. Volunteerism is a key form of community involvement that provides both physical well-being and mental health benefits in terms of self-esteem, social connectedness and social trust.

And… if you think you can’t tell great stories, you might be surprised to learn what a performance artist you are!

Spellbinders is a national nonprofit, that promotes the establishment of inter-generational, volunteer storytelling though local chapters that serve their communities. Our next training in Boulder is January 20, 21, 23, 28. For more information, please contact Anne Feist of Boulder Valley Spellbinders at www.spellbinders.org/
