Elder Care Resource Day Seminar on March 29

The Elder Care Network of Northern Colorado presents the fourth annual Elder Care Resource Day for seniors and family caregivers at The Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins on March 29. Registration or check in starts at 8 am. Classes start at 8:30 am and lasts until 3 pm.

The all day seminar will include four classes with a possible 16 informational subjects to help seniors and family caregivers with various elder care issues. There will be over 20 exhibitors presenting different products or services relating to this event.

The luncheon speaker will be Jill Taylor (pictured above), Program Manager with the Aspen Club. She will present “Humor in Caregiving.” Let’s face it! Family Caregivers need help and encouragement under stressful conditions with their loved ones. Ms. Taylor has a humorous overview on controlling these caregiving situations.

Sixteen classes on seniors and caregiving will be available at this event: 1) Grief & Loss—Preparing for End-of-Life Decisions, 2) How Do I Stay in My Home?—Homecare Options, 3) An Introduction to Medicare—Traditional Medicare, Supplements, Medicare Advantage, and Prescription Drugs, 4) Creating a Caregiving Plan, 5) Caregiving from a Distance, 6) Coping with Stress and the Emotions of Caregiving, 7) Alzheimer’s and Dementia—The Latest on Treatments and Therapies, 8) Community Living Options—Navigating the Continuum of Care, 9) How to Hold a Productive Family Meeting, 10) This Isn’t What I Signed Up For: How to Accept a Future You Didn’t Expect, 11) Elder Fraud and Abuse Prevention—AARP Elderwatch, 12) How To Be An Advocate in the Hospital, 13) Tackling Difficult Issues with Your Loved One, 14) Normal Aging vs. Dementia—What is My Loved One Experiencing?, 15) An Introduction to Self-Care: “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” and 16) How to Pay for “Long Term Care.”
