Volunteer At The Mining Museum

Do you love sharing stories, talking with people, and have a passion for history?

Boulder County is looking for people interested in volunteering at the mining museums of Boulder County Parks & Open Space!

Applications accepted starting May 14th and continues through the season.

James F. Bailey Assay Office Museum. 4 hr. shifts monthly May-Oct., 3rd Sat. every month, 11-3 pm.

Nederland Mining Museum. 3 hour shifts, Jun.-Oct. Fri., Sat., or Sun., 10-1pm or 1-4pm. Can work as little as one shift per month.

Walker Ranch Homestead Opportunity. Help bring history to life. Boulder County Parks and Open Space is looking for volunteers to demonstrate daily chores of a working western ranch such as cooking on a wood-burning stove, churning butter, making roof shingles, assisting the blacksmith, and doing laundry the old-fashioned way with a scrub board and wringer.

As a volunteer, dress in period costume (supplied) and participate in special events up at the historic Walker Ranch Homestead and conduct a variety of historical presentations.

This is a great family volunteer opportunity! Youth ages 9 and older accompanied by a parent can be involved.

Trainings: Th. Jun. 16, 6-9 pm and mornings June 25 & July 10. Covers local history, lifestyles of the 1880s, historical ranch activities and interpretive techniques.
