Do You Know the Clearview Library District?

The older we get, the more we realize we don’t have all the answers. Sometimes, we have misconceptions about services and businesses in our communities. Below are some things you may not know about the Clearview Library District.

The Clearview Library is not part of Windsor Town Government. It is an independent library district formed under the library laws of the state of Colorado.

The District has the same boundaries as the RE4, Windsor Severance School District, covering the Weld County portion of Windsor, most of Severance and parts of West Greeley. For a map visit the Library’s website, www.clearviewlibrary.org.

The District is governed by an unpaid, volunteer Library Board of 5 members and an alternate.

Board meetings are held the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 at 720 3rd St., Windsor. Public comment is always welcomed.

The Library District is funded through property taxes on businesses and homes in the District. You can see how much you pay in Library taxes by looking at your tax bill. The Library District’s mill levy has not been increased since 2001.

The Library on 3rd St. was built in 1997, funded by a voter approved bond that was paid off in 2011. The building was expanded to the limits of the property in 2008. The funding for the addition came from frugal management of the library’s budget.

The Library is open 355 days a year, closing only for major holidays: Monday through Friday, 9am – 8pm; Saturday, 9am – 5pm; Sunday, 1pm-5pm.

Ann Kling, Library Director states, “I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. I am also available to visit with your club, HOA or other organization. You can contact me via email, director@clearviewlibrary.org or call me at 970-686-5603.”
