Black History Month Celebration

On February 17th at the Hiawatha Davis Recreation Center, the Colorado Black Round Table (CBRT) Black History Month Celebration Honorees and Meeting lead by Dr. Sharon R. Bailey, Program Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Culture, Equity & Leadership Team. They discussed the “Role of The Black Church, Mosques & Centers of Spiritual Development, a discussion on the Black Community support for Black Arts & Cultural Organization in how they can help benefit the Community. Also, discussion on African American Parent Resource and Networking with DPS Board members and Representatives, Parenting On Purpose (P. O. P.} and DPS Family and Community Representatives (FACE).

CBRT – First Bank Black History Recognition Honorees: Denver NAACP, Sondra Young; Aurora NAACP, Omar Montgomery; Black American West Museum, Daphne Rice Allen; Cleo Parker Dance, Cleo Parker Robinson; Blair Caldwell Research Library, Terry Nelson; Colorado Black Chamber Of Commerce, Lee Gash Maxey.

Five Point Business District, Traci Winchester; DPS Culture, Equity & Leadership Team, Allen Smith; Colorado Black Legislative Caucus, Senator Angela Williams; National Council Of Negro Women, Denver, Valerie Yarbrough.

Each of Our Honored Organizations receives a Black Heritage Series Stamp Plaque with all 40 of the Black Stamps authorized by the US Postal Service commemorating and acknowledging the many contributions of Black Americans.

These Black Heritage Stamp Plaques are Presented and Sponsored by First Bank and the Colorado Black Round Table.

The meeting was a great place for the community, organizations and professionals to have a conversation on how to work together in helping some of the most vulnerable people in the State for resources and fellowships to feel they are not forgotten with no way to go! With Denver growing daily and the level of Ager Professionals can be a great asset in reaching out with their skill-sets to help make Denver one of best diversified and wholistic city in the nation.
