Annual Toast to Caregivers Celebration

2018 Powerful Tools for Caregivers Program Leaders

The seventh annual Toast to Caregivers celebration held last month at the MacKenzie Lodge in Fort Collins, honored all the caregivers who completed the six-week Powerful Tools for Caregiver program during 2018. Over 75 caregivers and their spouses attended the celebration to give thanks to the class leaders and the highly recommended Powerful Tools program hosted by the Larimer County Office on Aging and their facility sponsors.

A Powerful Tools class leader and MacKenzie Place sales manager Alan Heileman gave the introductions followed by a social hour. Cyndy Hunt Luzinski, Founder & Executive Director of Dementia Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado gave the annual proclamation with November being National Caregivers month. Lynette McGowan with the Larimer County Office on Aging introduced all the Powerful Tools class leaders followed by class leader Lani Hickman asking for caregiver stories from the audience members.

Over a dozen caregivers gave compelling and warm stories about how helpful the Powerful Tools classes have been for them and being able to help their spouses with less stress. Several door prizes were given by local sponsors to help celebrate the event. Overall, the caregivers were very appreciative of the Powerful Tools program and their class leaders.
