Register Now for OLLI Winter Term

By Paul Mauro, OLLI South Advisory Council

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Denver University is receiving registrations for the winter term. To register and review classes closest to you, visit https://universitycollege.du.edu/olli/ . Eight weeks of classes start the week of January 14 at six locations across Denver. OLLI at DU is a learning organization for active adults (50+) – “learning for the fun of it, without grades, tests, and nobody takes attendance.”

OLLI, known by some as ‘health club for the mind,’ has been serving seniors in the Denver area for over 20 years and offers its classes over three 8-week semesters during the year. The 3000 member organization is led by members and each term includes classes in history, arts, current events, science and technology, health topics, philosophy and culture, and more. Classes may include field trips and members enjoy social activities along with their classroom sessions.

The California-based Bernard Osher foundation endows 122 senior learning sites across the U.S. Denver’s OLLI is the 3rd largest in the country. It is affiliated with the University of Denver and has locations in Aurora, West Denver, Highlands Ranch, Central Denver, Boulder and DU. At each location members plan the curriculum, and ‘facilitate’ the classes.

New members are always welcome. The registration fee allows members to take classes at any of its 6 sites. All sites commence activity the week of January 14. A full listing of the all winter class descriptions are available on the OLLI website: https://universitycollege.du.edu/olli/ .
