Landline telephones are disappearing fast due to newer technologies such as cellphones and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. According to a CDC study, about 54% percent of Americans homes dropped their landline telephones for cellphones. Because the number of landlines is decreasing rapidly, telephone companies are charging higher rates to survive. Even though cellphones dominate today’s telecommunications services, there are other choices too. While many individuals and companies still rely on conventional phones, a recent Harvard Business Review survey found that an estimated 10% of international phone traffic uses the latest technology in transmitting voice over the Internet using VoIP. According to a 2019 study, U.S. companies bought newer Internet-phone connections than the older conventional phone lines.

Millions have already switched over to this new phone service.

More than 200 airports are utilizing VoIP internationally, and 79% of businesses are switching to VoIP, according to market research firm In Stat.

There’s no reason to have a more expensive landline phone service for your home or business as VoIP is clearly a better and less expensive service. You can save hundreds of dollars each year by switching to VoIP. Basic Internet service is required to use VoIP service, providing you have a cable system to your home or business. You can even keep your current phone number during the switchover and still have the many features that your telephone company offered previously such as caller ID, call forwarding, long distance calling, and voicemail.

Whether you use Spectrum, Comcast, or other cable company, you should consider using VoIP service today. These companies offer various package deals for your high speed Internet, VoIP telephone service, TV, and some offer home alarm monitoring systems. This is another example of technology helping our population more efficiently
