Caregiving Symposium Has Been Temporarily Cancelled!

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) threat, the Colorado Governor has declared a state of emergency and requested all meetings to be cancelled or delayed. 50 Plus will notify our readers when this event will be rescheduled!

Once again, with spring in Boulder County comes the Caregiving Symposium. This popular event, brought to you by the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, and Premier Partners Boulder Medical Center and TRU Community Care, will be held on April 8, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Boulder Jewish Community Center (6007 Oreg Avenue, Boulder).

The Symposium provides much-needed support to our community of informal and family caregivers. Join us for the introductory keynote address with Jane Barton, caregiving expert and author of Caregiving for the Genius, on “Collaborative Care – A Life-Giving Approach to Caregiving”; visit the resource fair of 80+ local service providers; and choose from among multiple workshops on issues relevant to caregivers.

In addition, on-site massage sessions are available (first come, first served, no cost), and there are opportunities to win raffle prizes. Session topics include addressing future care conversations; paying for home care and long-term care (information provided by an elder law attorney); dementia signs, treatment, and tips; lessons on caregiving from equine therapy; and technological support for caregivers.

Registration is $5, includes lunch, and closes on March 27 or when full. For information on the availability of financial assistance for respite care offered by Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, call 303- 441-1617.
