VA Telehealth Protects Veterans

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is leveraging telehealth technology to help protect veterans and their family from the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Using video telehealth appointments, veterans can connect with their VA care teams from anywhere, without traveling and exposing themselves, their family, and other veterans to COVID-19.

Video telehealth options, such as VA Video Connect, will enable veterans and their VA care team to conduct secure, real-time video visits using the camera on their phone, computer, or tablet. If veterans don’t need an in-person physical examination, VA Video Connect enables them to reach their care team without making the trip to a VA facility. Making healthy choices, like the decision to stay home when veterans are sick, will help protect veterans.

If veterans have flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, contact your provider before you visit your local medical center  or clinic. If veterans have an appointment, consider changing it to a telehealth appointment. Veterans can also use My HealtheVet’s Secure Messaging feature to contact their care team to ask non-urgent health questions and change veteran’s appointments to telehealth.

Veterans can use VA Video Connect on their computer or on their Apple or Android devices. Contact your VA provider to use VA Video Connect for your next appointment. Learn more on the VA Video Connect page at https://mobile.va.gov/app/va-video-connect.
