The Greeley Farmers’ Market opens May 15 for the summer season. The market takes place from 8 a.m.-noon, every Saturday through Oct. 30 at the historic Union Pacific Depot, 902 7th Ave., in downtown Greeley. Visitors should look for and follow signage indicating the main entrance and exit to create one-way traffic through the market to encourage social distancing.
“We’re excited to have more vendors than we had in previous years,” said Andrea Haring, special events coordinator for the city. “In our peak in mid-July, we are on track to have about 50 vendors at the market, which is double of what we had last year.”
The Greeley Farmers’ Market will feature a wide variety of food this month, such as arugula, spinach, romaine, sprouts, lettuce, greens, root crops, mushrooms, beef, bison, chicken, pork, bread, rolls, pies, pastries, coffee, spices, salsas, tortillas, and tamales.
Every weekend, vendors offer a wide variety of locally grown and produced food, including fresh and in-season produce, meats, honey, bread, and other baked goods, roasted chiles, and much more. Local artisans and crafters also offer great gifts and other sundries.
The Farmers’ Market information booth accepts card payments and provides vouchers to purchase items at the market. In addition to debit and credit cards, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards are accepted. SNAP provides benefits to eligible low-income individuals and families. The experience offers more than merely shopping for fresh food. Each week includes live music. In addition, every week the Weld County Master Gardeners from CSU Extension provide yard and landscaping advice.
