Colorado Cities and Counties Rescind Face Mask Order

Based on changing state and county health orders and updated guidance from the CDC, many cities and counties in Colorado and the U.S.have plans to rescind local face covering orders. All county public health orders related to COVID-19 would be lifted on May 16 at which point most counties will follow statewide orders.

Governor Jared Polis

On May 14, Governor Polis announced updates to the state-wide mask order to align with the newest guidance from the CDC. The new statewide guidance indicates that individuals who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask unless the business or setting they are in requires them. Masks are still required statewide in some settings including schools, childcare, and healthcare settings.

Masks are also still required nationwide at airports and on air-planes, trains, buses, and other public transit. Find state public health & executive orders at: Colorado Public Health Website.
