Larimer County Manager Linda Hoffmann to Retire

Following successful careers in both the private and public sectors, Larimer County Manager Linda Hoffmann has announced her intent to retire on April 6, 2022. Hoffmann has served as county manager since May 2012. She began work at Larimer County in 2008, serving as the rural land use director for one and a half years before being promoted to planning director.

During her tenure as manager, Larimer County was consistently responding to or in recovery from subsequent large-scale natural disasters, including the High Park Fire, the 2013 floods, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Cameron Peak Fire. Hoffmann spearheaded two successful, five-year strategic plans despite the fiscal impact of responding to multiple “100-year” events in a single decade. The completion of these strategic plan goals resulted in constructing well over $100 million in facilities without raising taxes, establishing Emergency Management and Economic Development departments — both playing vital roles in the COVID-19 community response — cultivating partnerships that resulted in I-25 expansion occurring decades earlier than planned, advancing community plans for solid waste to significantly grow diversion rates from landfilling, and creating community strategies and resources to address behavioral health needs.

Hoffmann also served on local community-based boards, including the United Way of Larimer County Board, and the Community Corrections and Criminal Justice Advisory Boards. Additionally, she served four years as President of the Association of Colorado County Administrators and Managers, and was a guest lecturer and speaker at many professional, community and university events.

“The Board of County Commissioners is thankful for her many years of dedicated service to the county, and we wish her well in her retirement,” said the Chair of the Board of Larimer County Commissioners Kristin Stephens.
The Board of County Commissioners will hire Hoffmann’s replacement. The Board plans to name an interim manager to lead the organization while undertaking an extensive hiring process.
