Longmont Library of Things Expands to Include New Digital Tools

Thanks to the support of the Friends of the Longmont Library, the Library of Things now offers more than 20 useful tools, outdoor games, entertainment items and household items for residents to borrow for free! The Library of Things offers residents a chance to borrow instead of buying – helping families save money, reduce clutter and is a low-barrier way to learn practical skills like repair and DIY.

Adult Longmont resident library card-holders are now able to reserve items online with the pick-up point at the Reference Desk, located on the second floor. Users may borrow items for up to seven days, at which point, they will need to be returned to the Reference Desk. Unfortunately, there are no renewals at this time for the Library of Things items.

Some items in the collection include:
1) Tools, such as a stud finder, drill kit, car diagnostic code scanner, digital multi-meter, metal detector and a full tool kit that includes screwdrivers, hammer, measuring tape and more,

2) Outdoor games, such as Spikeball, Kubb lawn game, giant tumble tower game, giant 4-in-a-row game and corn hole/bags,

3) Entertainment items, such as DVD/Blu-Ray disc player, external DVD player, GoPro camera, portable Bluetooth speaker, a projector, telescope kits and ukulele kits, &

4) Useful household items, such as a sewing machine, paper shredder, tabletop magnifier and an air quality monitor
However, a cardholder may only have one type of item reserved at a time and have one type of item checked out at a time.

Items will accrue a $5 late fee for each day it remains overdue up to seven days that you will be charged for missing item. After the seven-day grace period, patrons will be charged the replacement fee.
