As expected, Mikaela Shiffrin returned to the top of the podium winning her gold medal in the alpine skiing women’s slalom event on Wednesday at the Winter Olympics. Even though the gold medal eluded her in the last Olympics, she nailed it with a passion to become one of the best alpine skiers in the world! Shiffrin recorded a total time of 1:39.10 after going down the hill with a time of 47.13 on her first run and 51.97 on her second with a 1.5 second lead. She catapulted herself to gold medal position and added to Team USA’s medal total.

After a disastrous run in the 2022 Beijing Games, Shiffrin was able to keep her composure and deliver an incredible run to grab the gold. But she had to wait a few agonizing seconds as the two competitors ahead of her failed to make it through the course. Congratulations Mikeala!
Team USA members Ben Ogden & Gus Schumacher won a silver medal in the men’s Cross‑Country Team Sprint, which was a historic result: Ogden became the first American to win multiple Olympic cross‑country medals, and this was Schumacher’s first Olympic medal!
On another great note, both the men’s and women’s hockey teams have catapulted their teams to the semifinals with strong hopes of winning gold medals for both teams!
And finally, Team USA is still in third place on their total medal count at 24 medals as noted below!
