LUH Recognized Emergency Responders During National EMS Appreciation Week

Longmont United Hospital showed its appreciation and gratitude to all of the EMS Responders in its service area by hosting an EMS Appreciation Day BBQ on the grounds of the hospital.
“We are pleased to recognize and honor the contribution of these dedicated professionals, whose commitment, efforts and talents touch the lives of thousands every year,” noted Mitch Carson, President and CEO,
Longmont United Hospital. The BBQ was on Wednesday, May 20, on the patio outside of the Hospital’s Emergency Department. A hot lunch and cold beverages were served. First responders received a complimentary water bottle and other goodies from the Hospital.
Hospitals nationwide have been celebrating National EMS Week since 1974 to recognize first-responders who provide an essential service by quickly assessing and rendering aid in situations that can range from car accidents to heart attacks. The goal of the week-long tribute is to give the community an opportunity to thank the public servants who commit their lives to helping residents in times of crisis and emergency throughout the year. First-responders include paramedics, emergency medical technicians, fire-fighters and police, who are either paid or volunteer. “It is important for patients to know that they are being cared for by qualified, caring professionals,” says Herbert Ogden, MD, Medical Director, Emergency Department, Longmont United Hospital. “National EMS Week gives us the opportunity to recognize the efforts of these heroes and to say ‘thank you’ for often going above and beyond the call of duty to save lives.”
