Denver Botanic Gardens’ Spring Plant Sale takes place Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, 8-5 p.m. The sale features more than 10 plant divisions including annuals, perennials, fruits and vegetables, seeds, container gardens, hanging baskets, aquatics and more. This year’s sale focuses on the importance of pollinators by offering more pollinator-attracting plants and a predesigned garden layout themed for pollinators. Admission to the sale and Gardens are free on Friday and Saturday. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own wagons or dollies. Gardens members receive 10% off all purchases. A large variety of garden tools, pots and accessories are sold at the Shop at the Gardens.

Many of the plants are grown at the Gardens, allowing shoppers to take home some of the Gardens! These plants are propagated from the Gardens’ plant collections and grown in the greenhouse complex. One of the best perks of the sale is getting one-on-one tips and information from the Gardens’ horticulture staff. Many offerings from the Plant Select program that identifies the best plants for Colorado’s climate are also available.

For those without a yard, a variety of container plants, including mixed succulent containers filled with bright and unique combinations, can make great additions to a patio or balcony. An assortment of hanging basket arrangements are great for compact outdoor spaces.

The Spring Plant Sale Preview Party takes place Thursday, May 5, 4-8 p.m. A leisurely shopping experience with complimentary appetizers, wine and beer. Tickets are $45 and may be purchased on the Gardens’ website. The event often sells out in advance so reservations are recommended. In preparation for the event, the Gardens close at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. The Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory closes at noon on Thursday, May 5, through Saturday, May 7.
