Mildred Johnson has lived in Fort Collins since 1962. Mildred’s husband of 50 years passed away in 1996. Mildred is the mother of a grown son and daughter, a grandmother. Her family extends to a step daughter and her husband, a step grandson and being a step great-grandmother.

Mildred is a retired Colorado State University Professor Emertitus who taught Business Communication in the College of Business. While at CSU Mildred conducted research with Bell Telephone. She has consulted for various state and local organizations and business and a wide range of other entities. Mildred is also a published author.

Mildred has been an active member in numerous community and professional organizations. She was a recipient of a Rotarian-of-the-Year Award and served a term as Club President. Mildred always has been active in her church. She served as President of the Presbyterian Church Fort Collins Foundation.

Her very active life has found her volunteering in several community organizations – American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H Clubs, March of Dimes, just to name a few. Her volunteer work has been clear evidence of her care and concern for others.

Because of Mildred’s determination and pro-active mode of operation, she took charge of building the Children’s Garden in the Fort Collins Gardens on Spring Creek. She loves to prepare the soil, cultivate, plant, nurture growth and enjoy nature’s outcome. This speaks to Mildred’s whole life.

She is an inspiration to her family, friends and others who have the privilege of being in her company.
