The Greeley Chorale, recognized as one of the top choral organizations in the Rocky Mountain West, will soon take the stage for a traditional Christmas concert. A Holiday Gala is Saturday, December 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Union Colony Civic Center. In addition to numbers sung by the entire Chorale, this concert features some smaller ensembles and solos, as well as the Greeley Chorale Madrigal Feaste Singers.

“We first had this type of concert format during our 50th Anniversary celebration, and the audience loved it,” said Dr. Galen Darrough, Artistic Director and Conductor. “The Madrigal Feaste was a holiday staple in Greeley from 1988 to 2005, and the small group Madrigal Singers will provide a taste of the holiday celebrations of old.”

The concert includes traditional favorites such as “Jingle Bells”, “Mary Had a Baby”, and “Ding Dong! Merrily on High, as well as works by Mendelssohn, Holst, and, of course, John Rutter. “It wouldn’t be a holiday concert without John Rutter!” Darrough said. The “Ave Maria” by Franz Biebl, most recently popularized by the a capella group Chanticleer, will close the concert.

Produced in cooperation with the Union Colony Civic Center, the performance is dedicated to the memory of Glenn Brickley, a long-time Chorale member who retired from the group several years ago, and passed away unexpectedly this fall.

Next up for the Chorale is the wildly popular “Pops & Pasta!”, Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the Greeley Recreation Center. Tickets are still available for both the 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. seatings, but they are going fast!

The 2016-2017 is sponsored in part by a grant from Colorado Creative Industries and the National Endowment for the Arts. Tickets for both events are available through the UCCC at 356-5000, or online at ucstars.com.
