The Boulder Police Department, in conjunction with the Association for Community Living, is once again offering its popular Safety First for developmental disabilities. The program curriculum covers decision-making skills related to risk, social boundaries, using public transportation, home security and safety, and the proper way to contact police.
Classes are held on Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. beginning April 2 through April 16. All sessions are held at the Boulder Police Department, located at 1805 33rd St. Students should attend all classes, arriving at 3:45 p.m. and departing at 6 p. m.
Participants are encouraged to attend classes independently, as this best reflects their responsibilities while functioning in the community. However, if a student needs or desires additional support from a parent or caregiver, this will be supported.
Upon prior approval, students who have previously attended Safety First for Adults, may attend again. Please register early as slots fill up very quickly.
