The Battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in which the United States Marine Corps landed on and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Imperial Japanese Army.

USMC veterans who fought in the battle were recently recognized at the meeting of Coopers Troopers held at the American Legion Post 161 in Arvada.

Coopers Troopers get together at the Legion the third Thursday each month for lunch at 11:30 a.m. which gives them an opportunity to reminisce and support each other. On hand too is Maria Secrest, Regional Director, for Senator Cory Gardner. Maria is present to offer Senator Gardner’s appreciation for service to our country and is on the lookout for veterans who may need assistance through casework. Maria, herself, is a United States Army Veteran.

Thank you Veterans!
