In The Spirit Of Giving – Veterans Plaza Receives Donation

In November at the Anheuser Budweiser Brewery in Fort Collins, Plant Manager Gary Bocis presented a $10 thousand donation check on behalf of the 73 veteran employees at the plant to the staff at Veterans Plaza of Northern Colorado. In celebration of the event, 73 employees who served in the military were also honored by the plant with a letter of thanks and NFL sportswear.

The donation will be used for the proposed retaining wall and signage at Veterans Plaza in Spring Canyon Community Park off Horsetooth Road in Southwest Fort Collins. It is hoped to have the project completed when the popular Vietnam Wall returns to the Plaza by Memorial Day of 2020.

Dedicated in 2011, the Veterans Plaza of Northern Colorado’s mission is to honor U.S. military veterans and to educate future generations about their service and sacrifice for our nation. The organization is currently raising funds for the retaining wall and signage to make the Plaza more visible to the public. It is also raising money for a new sidewalk and other improvements that will increase accessibility and visibility of the plaza.

The Plaza hosts several large and small events throughout the year. It is open to the public for use throughout the year and can be reserved for special events through the City of Fort Collins Parks Department at 970-221-6660.
