Every year, the City of Fort Collins provides the Human Relations Award, recognizing those in our community who promote acceptance and respect for diversity in Fort Collins. Nominations for the senior award category over 60 years of age are selected by the Fort Collins Advisory Board. Criteria for this annual award are volunteering for a non-profit organization, serving a minority/disadvantaged population, and making a significant contribution.

Last month, Alma Vigo-Morales was the recipient of the 2015 Human Relations Award in the Senior Category. For more than three decades, Alma has worked diligently to help ensure Fort Collins is a welcoming, inclusive community. She served as the first Human Rights Officer in the City of Fort Collins, helped facilitate diversity training for more than 3,000 employees at Hewlett Packard, planned and was a key person helping to coordinate the city’s Multi-Cultural Community Retreat and the 2015 multicultural conference co-hosted with Colorado State University. Congratulations to Alma on her achievements!
